STIs

We all love sex, but unfortunately like everything in life, it doesn't come without risk. Fortunately these days we have a number of tools to keep ourselves and others safe.

PrEP, Treatment as Prevention (TasP - preventing HIV transmission through maintaining an undetectable viral load) and U=U (undetectable viral load = untransmissible) have changed the game when it comes to HIV.

Other sexually transmitted infections continue to be on the rise, some of which are becoming more difficult to treat due to emerging drug resistance.

Using a condom (and/or dental dam...) is still an effective way to reduce your risk of many other STIs including chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis, however we know condoms don't suit everyone.

The best thing you can do for your own and your partners' sexual health is get regular testing (3-12 monthly depending on your activity) and early treatment of any infections.
